Oundle Tennis Club Annual Championship 2009

The annual club championships took place on Sunday 28th June in glorious sunny weather. Highlights of the day, apart from the Bar B Q , strawberries and cream, and a variety of traditional liquid refreshments, included a large number of closely fought matches without any John MacEnroe moments.

Peter Whight and Sophie Walker both managed to claim 3 titles each – their respective Mens and Ladies Singles and Doubles titles and, as a pair, the mixed title. Sophie successfully defending all of these from the previous year. George Frankel claimed the Junior title for a third consecutive year, narrowly beating Jordan Lee in the final.

Junior Championship: George Frankel bt. Jordan Lee 4-3, 4-1

Ladies Doubles: Sophie Walker & Kate Whight bt. Jo Martin & Jane Eayrs 7-5, 6-4

Mens Doubles: Peter Whight & Charlie Whight bt. Tim Palmer & John Weston 6-3, 6-2

Mixed Doubles: PeterWhight & Sophie Walker bt. Charlie Brooker & Fiona Frost 6-5, 7-5
